Designing for Publisher

Instructions for Agencies providing designs for BlocksGlobal to build and setup in Publisher:

  • All artwork to be supplied as an RGB PSD file set in pixel measurements.

  •
Each screen/page should be a Layer Comp

.
  • JPG image of each screen/page should be supplied alongside the PSD to check that Layer Comps are correct.

  •

For sites with complex navigation i.e. two or more tiers and indicative site maps should be supplied as a PDF file.

  • All different text styles to be visualised, including bullet points, bold text, italic, link colours (and hover states)
.

If designing forms, please include error states.

  •

Interactive states such drop down menus, sliding panels, galleries should have a corresponding JPG and Layer Comp clearly indicating various states.

  • BlocksGlobal reserves the right to choose a replacement for fonts i.e. Interstate will be replaced with Proxima Nova Sans unless the party supplying the artwork secure a licensed copy of the fonts or are prepared to pay for licensing. We do NOT use Cufon, sIFR or image replacement techniques.

  •

Heading text should be actual text, rather than images for SEO purposes and to allow for easy editing in Publisher.  (Live text can overlay images - we can provide examples if required)
  • Repeating backgrounds/patterns should have a corresponding JPG/GIF or PNG file for use on the website.

  • Type must be rounded to the nearest pixel i.e. 12.4px should be 12px.

  • Body copy must not be smaller than 11px.

  • Each layer should be named according to its content
  •

NEVER supply artwork superimposed onto monitors, browser windows, tablets, mobile phones etc.

  • For responsive design (sites that flex with screen size) separate PSDs, JPGs or labelled wireframes (hand-drawn is fine) must be supplied to clearly indicate:

    • How the design appears at its maximum size

    • How the design appear at its minimum size

    • How the design the appears at other points i.e. at what point does a two column layout become a single column layout
