Searching for contacts

As there can be thousands of contacts in your database, locating a particular contact can be daunting!  Publisher can help by allowing you to filter the search to include or exclude contacts based on your search criteria.

You can search for contacts in multiple ways:

  1. Selecting projects
  2. Using filters, or
  3. Using a combination of some or all methods.

Projects

  • To search by Project, click on the Project the contact may be assigned to.

  • The Interests feature is a depreciated feature of Publisher that most of the new contact forms do not use anymore. Most of the new contacts are now properly tagged via Custom Field Groups (CFG's) what will enable you to fine-tune your search.

 Filters

To use the Filter search function, follow these steps:

  • Click the blue ‘Add Filter’ button. Three boxes will appear that help you to refine your search.
  • The first box is a list of data fields eg email, title, first name etc.  Select what data field you would like to use to commence your search.
  • The second box allows you to specify how to use that data field eg begins with, ends with, does not contain etc.
  • The third box allows you to specify the information to use in the search.
  • Click the blue 'Add Filter' button to continue to add filters to further narrow the search.
  • To remove a filter, click the orange circle next to the filter boxes.
  • Press the orange "Search" button to commence the search, and the contacts that appear will be based on the criteria you are searching.

All Methods

If you would like to search all Projects, you need to leave the ‘All’ option highlighted, and only use the Filter function.
